Two kinds of article

We publish two kinds of article, and we keep them visibly separate.

Guidance articles are written by our team to help readers with practical matters. Nobody pays for them, no company sees them before publication, and they carry no commercial links other than to official sources such as gov.uk and the NHS.

Advertisement features are paid partner content. They are always labelled, with an advertisement notice at the top of the page, a clearly marked tag wherever we link to them, and a full disclosure statement at the foot of the article explaining the commercial relationship.

Standards that apply to everything

• Plain English. If a reader needs a glossary, we have failed.
• UK specific. Rules differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we say which nation an article describes.
• Figures are checked at the time of writing, and where figures change each year we say so and point to the official source.
• Nothing we publish is personal medical, legal or financial advice.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we correct the article and note the change. Requests can be sent through the contact page.
